Candle Care
Candle Care is very important. Follow our candle care advice and you will get a lot more from your candle. Not only will they burn better, they will burn longer and cleaner.
- When lighting for the first time, burn your candle until the wax melts across the surface to the sides of vessel. This prevents tunneling, and creates an even burn for the duration of the candle’s ‘life’. This may take 2-4 hours depending on the size of your candle.
- Trim wick to 5 mm before each burn to promote an even burn, steady flame and to limit sooting of the wick.
- If soot forms on the inside of the vessel, extinguish the flame, wait for the wax to cool, wipe the vessel with a clean damp cloth then trim the wick and relight.
- Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
- Extinguish candle with a snuffer prevent hot wax from splattering. Do not blow out.
- Draughts decrease burn time, cause uneven burning, smoking and diminished scent throw.
- Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. These signs indicate the candle is not burning properly and the flame isn’t controlled. Let the wax cool, trim the wick and check for drafts before relighting.
- For maximum fragrance, keep doors and windows closed and burn in desired space for thirty minutes.
- Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place.
- Candles also look great stored under a glass cloche which also protects from dust.
- Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as a spotlights.
- You can remove dust and fingerprints from a candle by gently rubbing the surface with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth. The cloth can be dry or slightly dampened with water.
- Always read and follow the safety instructions carefully. Don’t burn a candle longer than the recommended time.
